Awareness of thought:-
Can you be aware of your thinking without judging it. Try this for at least a minute or for few seconds, then you will realize how difficult it is to be aware of our own thinking.
Now the question is why one should aware of his/her own thinking:-
I feel thinking is the root cause of all psychological or human problems. Thought creates problems when it is in a certain pattern and awareness is the tool which breaks the patterns of our thought structure and put thought into its right place. These patterns are created by many influences or ideals, readings, society and our education, religions or our sacred books...etc(May be a mail like this). If you take scientific world, the knowledge is based on enquiry but where as if one comes to his own life it is about believing or having faith in something. So the simple thing is realizing the fact that we believe in something or there are so many ideas in one's life, which are never questioned, as this questioning distracts one's psychological security.
What is the difficulty in being aware:-
Is awareness about your thought is difficult or you are making it difficult. If you are watching National Geographic channel, sometimes you see the video of deer which is drinking water in the pond. You can observe that they are alert and attentive very naturally because there is danger of being killed by a wild animal. So here I would like to emphasize "natural". There is no sense of achievement or competition in that alertness of a deer its not will power even. It's body and its mind very naturally support that alertness. The danger in our life is, in the absence of this awareness, thought takes it's most destructive form. Realizing this danger is the key not how to stop thinking. The moment you try to operate on your thought it creates another problem.
This mail is not about deer or tiger it's about awareness of thought or paying attention to thought don't get carried away by the example. In youtube you can get a video of a deer and you can feel the alertness of a deer by watching it.
