Here I would like to share my experiences at Rishi Valley school.
1st day:-
It was a long walk from where the bus left me to the school, it was little hot but I haven’t felt any kind of tiredness as the way is full of trees, and when you look at them you forget yourself at least for a second or two. Is living possible when the mind forget the self, it's little petty sorrows, fears, desires when you die to all of them, only then are you and me actually living?
As previous night it was not a complete rest for me in Bangalore, after taking lunch at 1 Pm I slept for a while, it was a hot day, the hot air of the fan exhausted all the liquid in my body. After waking up @ 5 Pm I went to study center to watch Q&A video of JK with IIT Mumbai students. I met a friend who is from Italy and we talked little about life, he is learning Advaita from a master in Tiruvannamalai. After dinner I went to my room and read JK personal notebook, which came in printed form recently. The guest house is really nice, with full of trees around it, and a hill beside the house. The house is very well arranged and maintained in a cleanly manner.
2nd day:-
When one lives in nature there is a sense of peace and energy will be there in life, or it might be the energy which comes when you are alone, I felt this energy on the second day. I met new people from different countries, and the discussion with them has given new insights into life. A good discussion without any prejudices always makes things easier to understand. In the evening we went to the top of a hill, the school is surrounded by hills and scatters up to 300 acres.
To be alone doesn't mean getting isolated and running away from life.
The children:-
It is a delight to see the children at Rishi Valley School, they were uncorrupted by the morality of the present society, there is no comparison, competition, no sense of becoming something, yet they are good at studies as they are in love with what they are doing. You can see discipline in the way they speak and behave but it is surely not something which was imposed on them, this discipline is out of understanding, so it is effortless.
No child wants to be recognized by someone else, so they are like free birds. To be recognized, famous, popular is a very dangerous desire to live with, because it makes you unhappy when someone neglects you. Last day before I was returning from the school, I sat in a morning music session by the students. It was a very big open hall with full of trees surrounded by it, there was gathering of parents, teachers, guests and students.
They sang some of the ancient Sanskrit chants and the melody and rhythm filled air and hearts of the people. It is like someone purifying your heart and mind, an experience which can not be put in words.
Psychological experience is dangerous if you keep that in memory, soon you must die to that and it happens naturally when you are attentive at the time of experiencing.
Can we bring up our children with simplicity in their hearts, which is necessary quality to be happy? Can we take care that they are not slaves to endless entertainment industry, which is making us run away from life? Can we protect their natural qualities of sensitivity & innocence? Can we give them intelligence not money, property, position....etc, as true security lies in intelligence.
