Effortlessness..

It is very important to make our life effortless day by day psychologically, as long as this effort and struggle won’t end in us there is no possibility for real happiness. Effortless doesn’t mean becoming dull and lazy rather being more attentive and aware.

Suppose if I am a student, it is not only important that I should memorize my subjects and get some good marks, but I should pay attention to why I am being educated? Or what is the place for education itself in human life? When I have to face exams or any other difficult situation what is the reaction of my mind to that? Slowly by being aware of what is happening inside of your brain you will not only learn the subjects but also the different fears, desires, anxieties your mind is occupied with, unless these are not understood they will be hindrance to your studies, they are loss of energy. The understanding of different psychological issues makes us free and brings new kind of energy into us, in which there is no place for conflict, so the unnecessary activity or chattering of the brain must reduce. Then we can understand only a silent mind can learn not a mind which is confused, occupied with fear, running after a particular goal or result….etc, as you have seen the state of mind required to learn something your life becomes effortless, because as a student all I need to do is learn few subjects.

One must be gentle while learning about one’s mind, to learn something we must not accept or deny the activity of our brain, we need to stay with it and play with it, it’s like a play but you need to play it seriously.

The touch of thought..

If you observe your day to day life there are so many joyful moments, it might be a festival, new job, going to a movie, being successful in what you are doing or spending good time with your friends on some weekend…etc. When these events actually happening you will be filled up with new energy and your heart will be filled up with happiness, till this point it is quite good to have as these moments makes you healthy both outwardly and inwardly.

Suppose a boy or girl went with their family to watch a movie and had a very nice time, if they lived these moments completely then they will be back to home with very little memory. Those moments are nice because those are the moments in which they forget themselves, their little worries, fears, pain of not having something….etc, they died for their daily boredom of going to school, solving problems..Etc. When these moments occur in our lives we must learn how to die to these moments as soon as they are over or keep very little memory about them.

Now please try to understand when these moments turned into memory what happens? Our thoughts are based on our memory, so thought tries to repeat the same joyful moments once again, it tries to chew the residue of our memory. That means the joyful moments once lived now thought is trying to live again by creating illusion. So this desire to repeat leads to pain without any failure. So when a joyful moment is touched by thought it turns it into dark.

So with true self knowledge thought comes to it’s right place, it won’t enter into those fields of life in which thought is unnecessary, as thought reduces happiness will increase. One must remember that thought should reduce through understanding and learning of its activities not through imposed discipline as imposed discipline is again the activity of thought.

True spirituality

Spirituality or philosophy has been misunderstood by most of us, the first thing comes to our mind is renunciation, detachment from all the worldly things. A person who is looking for renunciation has to question himself why he wants renunciation is it to attain something else like enlightenment, or he understood the matter of attachment, and the burdens attached to it. Please observe that if you want detachment to attain something it’s a business, because out of your detachment you are expecting something, this kind of action is painful and breeds conflict. Where as if you start learning what is involved in attachment, not for some goal or attain something else, but out of attention. That learning turns into action, and then you are not acting but that very learning brings change in you, and that is the beauty in the process of true learning.

That’s the reason people like Bhudha, Jiddu Krishnamurti or any other true guru acts like a mirror, in which you can see yourself and understand yourself as you are. So they say be a light to yourself. So true spirituality is all about learning, questioning and doubting in a healthy way, there is no place for belief in spirituality, there is no place for following or worshipping somebody. So be aware of the ugly guru’s who are coining money, and who tells you follow me.

The benefits of learning about yourself are extraordinary, one can not even imagine I feel. But as I said if you study keeping benefits in mind you will be left with ashes. The strength it gives you is beyond or can not be compared with the strength that you get with confidence and will power. If you see clearly will is nothing but a strengthened desire, so you are driven by your desire, it has been used by Hitler and the so called developed countries to create wars and get benefited by them. You may say this will power can be used for helping others, but my question is if you are expecting nothing out of your help, help them and die to whatever you have done to others, why do you need will power?

Recently I got a mail from one of my friend who is working in social organization and this mail states that they planted so and so number of trees for the upcoming rainy season, and also below he has given statistics which are there to prove that they have started first and they planted more no. of plants than others, and also some news articles about their organization from a popular news magazine. I really appreciated their effort to plant trees but I didn’t understood
Why he is competing with other organizations who are also there to do good things for the society?
This competition is creating havoc in the world, no one is in love with their work or life, when you are loving something there is no place for competition or comparison. The best social work might be love what you are doing and make your life effortless.

he and his friend on growth...

He used to be very shy, hesitant to speak to others, living with so many problems. He always tried to improve himself (personality development)
he has so many ideals he tries to imitate them. Basically he wants recognization from others like he is very intelligent, kind or some
kind of super humanbeing. He wants to be skillful person in all fields of life. He thought he was in right path as he is struggling to become something.

One find day fortunately another good friend of him asked why you are not happy with what you are?

H -- Him
HF -- His Friend

H : If I am happy with what I am how can I grow?
HF : Whatever the growth that you are saying can you see an end to that?
Your struggle to become something has really brought any change in
you?
H : There is no end to growth we need to struggle till the end of our
life.
HF : If you struggle till the end of your life what place has happiness
and joy in your life?
H : I can struggle and be happy
HF : Is that true? a mind which is struggling to become something and
constantly pushing itself for something can it be happy ever?
H : But if my mind stop struggling it will become dull and lazy.
HF : Is that so? Have you ever lived without that struggle and effort to
become something for a moment and see what happens? Don't you think
all that struggle to become is just loss of energy and is the root
cause of all human misery? Don't you think that very struggle
preventing you to live happily in the present moment?
H : Then you mean to say growth has no value in life?
HF : NO, stop struggling to become something and start understanding what
you are in the present. You might be afraid, unintelligent, selfish,
unhappy person stay with what you are, never say I must, as
struggling has stopped in your mind, your mind will become silent and
in that very silence the understanding of what you are begins, this
understanding is not self improvement, it is self negation it negates
what is wrong in your understanding. This negation is real growth.
Then you will come to know there is great intelligence in being
anonymous not famous, popular all that nonsense. Don't you think it
is time for you to look into yourself to see wheather that struggle
and effort exists in you or not?

I have question for you all and to myself?

Questioning and doubting is good rather than blindly believing something, stating that. What I understood in my life is, the root cause of all the misery in the world is self-centered activity of human mind, it is simple to observe as long as we don't add ifs and buts to it, or divide, analyze and make it more and more complex problem.

Now my question to all of us is what should be the action to stop this self-centered activity. This mind which is consumed only with self security can destruct anything, and it is very much evident by looking at the present society, the ugly wars, poverty, utter violence, authority..etc. Am I not living with such a mind, if yes who is going to change me or you? the society is waiting for me to change and in turn I am waiting for the society to change, so it takes never ending time.

How do you solve this problem? If you say this is human nature we can't change there is nothing further to go, but if you think there might be an action we can perform, we can discuss together. Please don't think this is not related to this you, this is common to everyone, because such a mind can be danger to all our plants, children, the whole of our existence. You may ignore it but it won't ignore us, can you see the truth of this matter?

Why I am writing is there are innumerable social organizations, thinkers, philosophers, religions, gurus, charity works, political / social reformers...etc all they seemed to be failed as we look at the present society and they are there from the past centuries. Seeing all this what I understood is, this charity and social work is necessary but not sufficient. The root of all misery exists in human mind it creates the society, and you also living with it, now the question is who is going to clean it?, which might be the most complex education that one can take up.

Solitude indicates a fresh mind

In the life we generally lead there is very little solitude. Even when we are alone our lives are crowded by so many influences, so much knowledge, so many memories of so many experiences, so much anxiety, misery and conflict that our mind become duller and duller, more and more insensitive, functioning in a monotonous routine. Are we ever alone? Or are we carrying with us all the burdens of yesterday? There is a rather nice story of*monks walking from one village to another and they come upon a young girl sitting on the bank of a river, crying. And one of the monks goes up to her and says, `Sister, what are you crying about?' She says, `You see that house over there across the river? I came over this morning early and had no trouble wading across but now the river has swollen and I can't get back. There is no boat.' `Oh,' says the monk, `that is no problem at all', and he picks her up and carries her across the river and leaves her on the other side. And the*monks go on together. After a couple of hours, the other monk says, `Brother, we have taken a vow never to touch a woman. What you have done is a terrible sin. Didn't you have pleasure, a great sensation, in touching a woman?' and the other monk replies, `I left her behind*hours ago. You are still carrying her, aren't you?' That is what we do. We carry our burdens all the time; we never die to them, we never leave them behind. it is only when we give complete attention to a problem and solve it immediately - never carrying it over to the next day, the next minute that there is solitude. Then, even, if we live in a crowded house or are in a bus, we have solitude. And that solitude indicates a fresh mind, an innocent mind.

Our Responses are conditioned

What is the importance that you give to know about yourself? If you buy a new TV in your home you have to go through the manual and slowly you have to learn one by one operation. If you don't learn there is no use for that TV, it merely exists in your home as a decorative item. The same is happening with us, we merely exist without any beauty in life.

One has to start learning from his/her day to day life, from little things, things like the way you talk, walk, relate to others...etc. In that learning we can discover that our responses are very much conditioned by books, religions, society, parents, ugly guru's who are coining money, our own knowledge....etc. In that very learning or silent observation the conditioning of the mind wipes out, but if you fight against your conditioning that effort or struggle brings another form of conditioning. So we always move one conditioning to another conditioning, we are never able to dissolve them, so that we can live with a free mind, which is not dependent on outside authority to resolve the problems of life.

It is very difficult for us to be aware of our own thinking, just to be aware, because in that awareness life flowers. It is difficult for us because the moment we start doing something we want some result out of it, we want to achieve something out of it. We never know how to observe or look at something without any motive or goal, we trained in such a way our life is full of motives, goals, success stories. We never know that when there no motive, goal there is attention in your observation, as only the mind without motive can stay in the present.

The motive is to become something; there is always striving, struggle in life which is preventing us to live the present moment. We are not living we are dragging our life, day after day year after year. It is so sad that we don't utilize our extraordinary intelligent mind, we depend on others and soon we will become slaves to some guru, book, ideal and this slavery continues till the end of our life. If you have any problem you instantly turn towards your dependency, and you are never realizing that this dependency brings lots of pain and suffering.

All our responses are conditioned that is what has been said above, is that true? Can you observe your day to day life and find out answer for yourself? That single moment in life in which you say, yes this is a fact and this is actually happening in my life has a great effect than reading thousands of books.

A day with complete happiness in your heart and intelligence in your mind is better than a struggled life of hundred years.
